Ohio State Highway Patrol motorcycle citations (2005-2007)
· 7,006 enforcement stops – 30% increase in 2007 as compared to 2005
· 46% of citations were for operating without an operating license or endorsement
· Nearly half of citations were for speeding
· 12% of citations were for operating under the influence
· 36-45 year old group had the highest increase in citations
Registration & Endorsements
· The number of motorcycle registrations increased 12% from 2005 to 2008
· The number of endorsements increased 3% for the same period
· Endorsement increases were greatest for females (13%) compared to 3% for males
· Endorsements for drivers 50 years and older increased 11% compared to a 5% decrease for drivers 49 year old and younger
